The Veterans Affairs business unit helps transform the VA into a modern digital services organization where Veteran outcomes are at the center of every effort. We partner with the VA to design and deliver seamless user experiences for Veterans, their families and caregivers, and VA employees. By applying better practices in service design, product management, and technology, we enable the VA to increase the use, quality, and reliability of services and decrease the time Veterans spend waiting for outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Applications / Integration Engineer to support the modernization and sustainment of the Veterans Enrollment System (VES). This role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex system-to-system integrations across critical VA and external platforms.
This position focuses on enterprise application integration, serving as a technical leader responsible for enabling secure, reliable data exchange between VES and numerous enterprise partners, including Oracle EHRM, VistA, VA Profile, VA.gov, MPI/IAM, and external payer systems.
The ideal candidate will possess deep experience designing and supporting enterprise integrations, modern microservices architectures, healthcare or government systems, and highly regulated environments handling sensitive veteran data.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience
Modernized Technology Stack: Java 17+, Spring Boot, Reactive RESTful Web Service Development with Spring WebFlux, Streams, Kafka, Redis, Oracle database, React/Next.js UI framework, Github, Kubernetes, and Docker. Ensure the stack enhances performance, security, and maintainability.
Legacy Technology Stack: MUMPS (VistA), Java Server Pages(JSP), Spring framework, Apache Struts, Hibernate, IBM ODM, Oracle weblogic application server
Experience integrating enterprise systems across multiple platforms and environments.
Experience troubleshooting complex distributed application and data integration issues.
2+ years of mentoring and coaching experience; experience with communicating and leading tasking efforts to support delivery
Extensive experience with software development, customer interactions, formal and informal communication, and mentorship
Preferred Qualifications:
General understanding of government contracting requirements and regulations

In support of various state and city equal pay transparency laws, Ad Hoc job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay to candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities we've outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
